Polk students make OSU honor roll

CORVALLIS -- A number of Polk County residents qualified for inclusion on the 2011 spring term scholastic honor roll at Oregon State University.

Students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or better and carry at least 12 graded hours of course work to qualify.

Bednarek receives Gonzaga degree

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Kaitlin Bednarek of West Salem participated in Gonzaga University's graduation exercises during a commencement ceremony held on May 8 in Spokane's Veterans' Memorial Arena. Bednarek graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.

George Fox honors several locals

NEWBERG -- Several Polk County residents have qualified for inclusion on the 2011 spring term dean's list at George Fox University in Newberg.

They include: Elizabeth Anne Kean, sr., Dallas; Kimberly Lynne Knaupp, fr., Rickreall; Kristin Anne Knaupp, jr., Rickreall; Grant William Knowles, sr., Monmouth; Wade Knowles, sr., Monmouth; Jenn Michelle Lippert, jr., Monmouth; Kacey Noelle Parks, sr., Monmouth; Mary Jo Pflaum, fr., Monmouth; Helena Joyce Riddell, fr., Monmouth; and Martin Ray Robison, fr., Monmouth.

To qualify for the George Fox dean's list, a student must earn a 3.5 or better grade-point average.

Dallasite gets NAU dean's list nod

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Miriam Lawson of Dallas has qualified for inclusion on the 2011 spring semester dean's list at Northern Arizona University. Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.5 or better to qualify. Lawson, majoring in electronic media and film production through NAU's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, posted a 3.75 GPA.

Rickreall man earns Pacific honor

FOREST GROVE -- Mark Rohde of Rickreall has been named to the dean's list for spring term 2011 at Pacific University. Rohde is among 277 students at Pacific to earn the honor. To qualify, students must achieve a term grade-point average of 3.70 or higher and complete 12 or more graded course hours.

WSHS grad recognized at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Malia L. Kawamura of West Salem has been named to the dean's list for the 2010-11 spring semester at Colby College. To qualify for the dean's list, students must post a grade-point average of 3.68 or higher. Kawamura is a freshman majoring in mathematics and physics at Colby. She attended West Salem High School.
