DALLAS -- James2 Community Kitchen is moving its dinner site starting the first week of August.
Sue Lamb, James2's finance officer, said the move is necessary because of the increasing number of people the free weekly meal is serving. In one recent week, more than 350 people attended, far too many for the current site at Dallas United Methodist Church.
"We are moving for all the right reasons," Lamb said.
Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 2, meals will be served at St. Philip Catholic Church in Dallas.
Lamb said St. Philip has a larger commercial kitchen and more room for the growing number of people coming through the doors each Tuesday.
James2 first began serving meals in spring 2009, preparing less than 50 meals in its first week. The program has expanded quickly since then.
"We are seeing new families every week," Lamb said.
James2 is open every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, 825 SW Mill St.
Meals are free and everyone is welcome.
