DALLAS -- The Dallas School Board approved contracts Monday, May 9, for three projects funded by the district's maintenance bond.
The board awarded contracts to Kliever's Abbey Carpet and Floor Covering for flooring work in Dallas High School, LaCreole Middle School and Whitworth Elementary School in the amount of $72,680 and to Dalke Construction for flooring projects at Lyle Elementary School in the amount of $29,800.
A contract for asbestos abatement in LaCreole, Whitworth, Lyle and DHS was awarded to EWR Environmental Services for $49,944.
Blue Spruce Builders was awarded a contract for structural and siding repair projects at the DHS stadium for $158,900.
The projects are paid for with funding from a $8.6 million bond levy approved by voters exclusively for maintenance of district buildings.
The district also awarded a contract for student transportation services to Mid-Columbia Bus Company. The contract is a joint agreement with the Falls City and Perrydale school districts and requires approval of each district's board.
One of the three bidders for the service, First Student, the district's current bus service provider, has filed a protest, claiming the selection process was biased.
In other district business, the next Dallas Budget Committee meeting is Monday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at the district office, 111 SW Ash St.
