AIRLIE -- Two men were arrested on Saturday, May 14, after allegedly pilfering metal from an Airlie-area farm to sell as scrap.
Polk County Sheriff's deputies received a report of a metal theft at about 11 a.m. at a property in the 13000 block of Airlie Road.
The property owner, Donald Burch of Albany, had found a pickup on his farm loaded with scrap metal from the location, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies arrived, searched the residence and outbuildings, and surrounding areas. They found Trevor J. Jellison, 38, of Salem nearby, and George R. Hurles II, 40, a transient who tried to flee by running through adjacent properties.
The suspects were transported and lodged at the Polk County Jail on charges of theft II and burglary in the first degree. Each had a bail amount set at $45,000.
