BUENA VISTA -- A body was pulled from the Willamette River in the Buena Vista area on Saturday, Oct. 1, a representative of the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Marvin Leonard Studer, 63, of Buena Vista was found at 3:24 p.m. floating about a quarter of a mile downstream of the Polk County side of the Buena Vista Ferry Landing, the sheriff's office said.
His body was recovered by authorities about an hour later with the assistance of the Benton County Sheriff's Office marine patrol unit.
Studer had last been seen by family members Sept. 9 at his nearby home. Relatives have indicated that it was not uncommon for Studer to spend time along the river, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office is investigating the incident. Cause of death and the reason for Studer being in the water haven't been determined, though there was no indication of foul play.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Detective John Williams or Sgt. Kevin Haynes at the Polk County Sheriff's Office, 503-623-9251.
