Police say chase tops 100 mph

POLK COUNTY -- Police arrested a Corvallis man after a high-speed chase on Thursday, Oct. 6, ended near Amity on Highway 99W.



POLK COUNTY -- Police arrested a Corvallis man after a high-speed chase on Thursday, Oct. 6, ended near Amity on Highway 99W.

The suspect car reached speeds in excess of 100 mph and drove into oncoming traffic, forcing cars to swerve out of the way during part of the chase northbound through Polk County.

The chase started in Benton County.

Christopher Stringham, 51, was eventually pulled over and arrested. He was taken to Polk County Jail on charges of eluding police, reckless endangering and reckless driving.

Drivers who had to swerve to avoid the suspect vehicle are asked to call Deputy Todd Fenk at the Polk County Sheriff's Office, 503-623-9251.
