DALLAS -- The Dallas volleyball team is 4-8 and in seventh place in the highly competitive Mid-Willamette Conference after dropping a pair of league matches last week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 19, in a road contest at Corvallis, the Dragons fell to the Spartans 25-9, 25-6, 25-20.

When asked about the match, Coach Cathy McCarron simply said, "We have to put that one past us and move on to the next game."

That next game was Thursday, Oct. 20, against South Albany. And while Dallas fell 25-21, 25-19, 25-20, McCarron noted her team's improved effort and execution.

"It was nice for the girls to rebound and play better," she said.

The match against South Albany was the home finale for Dallas, making it Senior Night for four seniors -- Khayla Swanson, Shaymarie Parker, Sarah Solvedt and Kelsey Linn -- playing their final match before the home-court fans in a Dallas uniform. McCarron was proud of her team's performance against South Albany.

"It was nice to make it competitive for the seniors," she said.

Juniors Caitlin McCarron and Deaven Vessell led the Dragons with 11 kills, while sophomore Kiley Barcroft contributed 16 digs on defense. Parker added 11 assists and McCarron served four aces. Dani Ackerman added 10 assists to the Dragons' effort.

Dallas was scheduled to play at Silverton on Tuesday, Oct. 25, after press time. The Dragons close out the regular season at Lebanon on Thursday, Oct. 27. Both matches will likely have an impact on state play-in match seeding.

When asked what Dallas would have to do to perform well in the final week of the regular season, McCarron said, "We just need to play our game and not let up. We have to come out and execute and maintain what we've been doing."
