Local credit union has new name

DALLAS -- Oregon First Community Credit Union has announced that it has changed its named to First Community Credit Union.

For the past eight years, the Coquille-based credit union has been doing business as Oregon First Community Credit Union, an assumed business name. First Community Credit Union, its legal name, will now be used.

The credit union has a Polk County branch at 372 E. Ellendale Ave. in Dallas.

Some Things sells mattresses

DALLAS -- Some Things in downtown Dallas is now carrying new Englander mattresses.

It is believed that Some Things is currently the only retail outlet for new mattresses in Polk County, noted store owner Mike Berkes.

The store will carry an assortment of new mattresses at various size, price and quality levels. Special orders will also be accepted.

"We think this is exciting news for Dallas and the downtown shopping area," Berkes said. "We just can't stand back and give the people of Polk County a reason to shop in Salem."

MetLife insurance office relocates

INDEPENDENCE -- Dennis Miller recently relocated his MetLife Auto, Home and Life Insurance Agency from Dallas to Independence.

The three-employee office is located at 226 S. Main St., Suite F, in downtown Independence.

Miller offers a full line of auto, home and life insurance.
