Tattoo parlor is now open in Dallas

DALLAS -- Black Friday may be the biggest shopping day of the year. But for Dallas resident Rich Gardner, it was the first day of a new career.

That was the day Gardner opened Bawdee Shotz Tattoo, a small tattoo parlor on East Ellendale Avenue in Dallas.

A longtime hobby tattoo artist, Gardner attended tattoo school at West Salem's Hot Rod Bettie's and earned his license about a year ago.

A former wildland firefighter, Gardner was forced to change careers due to medical issues. Faced with that challenge, he decided to turn his love of tattoos into a second career.

He's starting small with Bawdee Shotz -- he is the only tattoo artist right now -- but is confident the new business will grow.

"We've had lots of walk-ins, people coming in to check us out," Gardner said.

Bawdee Shotz is located at 211 E. Ellendale Ave., between Napa Auto Parts and McDonald's. Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
