SWEET HOME -- The relay team of Matt Stanger, Nathan Glade, Matthew Grandquist and Rahevin Potter-Clark continued to lead the way for the Central boys swimming team, as the Panthers took second at Thursday's Sweet Home Invitational.
The quartet took top honors in both the 200-yard medley (1:63.55) and 200 freestyle (1:41.82) relays to lead the Panthers, who were edged by winner Philomath, 78-74, in the team standings.
Stanger picked up a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:26.35) and Glade was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.64) to lead the individual boys' placers.
For the girls, Carlee Hasbrook placed second in the 50 freestyle (31.36) and Sara Spreadbury was third in the 500 freestyle (6:44.39) to lead Central, which placed fourth out of six teams with 39 points.
DALLAS BOYS FARE WELL AT WEST ALBANY
: The Dallas boys swimming team had a strong showing at Mid-Willamette Conference foe West Albany Dec. 18, picking up five first-place finishes in a 170-90 loss. The relay team of Jesse Genualdi, Kalon Schmidt, Joey Orton and Michael Osborn won both the 200 medley relay (1:54.38) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.47), while Orton picked up two individual wins in the 50 freestyle (24.12) and 100 freestyle (53.41). Also placing first for Dallas was Schmidt in the 500 freestyle (5:53.10).
The girls team, with several swimmers battling sickness, also fell to West Albany, 190-76. Jerusha Dressel and Deaven Vessell led the way, with Dressel taking second place in the 50 freestyle (27.65) and Vessell second in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.43).
