Social media workshop is Thursday

MONMOUTH -- Current and aspiring business owners are welcome to attend the third and final program in the Polk County Lunch & Learn Series at Western Oregon University on Thursday.

The free workshop is designed to help individuals determine the best practices and strategies when it comes to social media and business and will look at real-world social media successes.

The presenter is Rod Killen, co-owner of Bestinoregon.com. Killen holds an an advanced certificate in social media through the University of San Francisco.

Polk County Commissioners Craig Pope and Jennifer Wheeler and local businessman Eric Olsen will also speak.

The event will run from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 111 in the College of Education Building. Participants can park for free with a visitor permit that will be handed out before the activity starts.

The series is coordinated by the WOU Division of Extended Programs.

Chiropractic office to honor patients

MONMOUTH -- Joynt Family Chiropractic is holding its first "patient appreciation day" Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the clinic, 629 Clay St. E., in Monmouth.

New and established patients of Dr. Brian Joynt are welcome for complimentary chiropractic care. No appointment is needed.

The event will also feature food, music and door prizes.

Marquis Spas unveils new website

INDEPENDENCE -- Portable hot tub manufacturer Marquis Spas has unveiled a redesigned consumer website. The site, www.marquisspas.com, has received a complete makeover in terms of visual, materials and even infrastructure.

Among the new features is an interactive hot tub color chooser where consumers can see how interior and exterior colors look together. The dealer locator pages have been expanded and enhanced. And there are also links to Marquis' social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, as well as a link to Marquis' blog and YouTube page.

Marquis' website is not only for prospective spa owners, but for current owners as well.
