Home And Garden Show Will Have Something For Everyone

RICKREALL -- Need ideas for a kitchen remodel? Or how about that house painting project that's still on your to-do list?

RICKREALL -- Need ideas for a kitchen remodel? Or how about that house painting project that's still on your to-do list?

The 2012 Polk Home and Garden Show, taking over the Polk County Fairgrounds & Event Center for its fifth-annual event Friday through Sunday, may have just the answer all in one location.

The show will feature three days of demonstrations, vendors, exhibits and merchandise, all designed to inspire home decorating and remodeling projects.

This year, for the first time, admission is free.

"It's tough economic times and this is a community event," said event coordinator Deb Thomas of Polk Productions. "We want to give the community every opportunity to come."

Among the nearly 40 vendors will be Clear Signal Satellite, Tupperware, Olsen Design & Development, Old Mill Feed & Garden, and many more.

Attendees will be able to peruse booths for home remodeling and decorating ideas, gardening products, equipment and tips, and even help with getting organized.

Returning again this year is the popular NW "G" Railroad Club, which will set up its "Trains in the Garden" display.

Thomas said a number of vendors will be putting on demonstrations or holding drawings for merchandise giveaways.

Event sponsor KYKN is holding a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to the Riverside Motel in Bend and The Polk Home and Garden Show will be sponsoring a drawing for a $100 gift certificate to Ragin' River Steakhouse in Independence.

Now in its fifth year, the event has grown to about double the size it was when it started. Thomas is projecting an even bigger turnout this year.

"I think this year will be the takeoff year with free admission and the economy turning around," Thomas said.
