Goat dairy opens farm store

DALLAS -- What do you do to celebrate four

years in business?

If you are Dallas' Fairview Farm Goat Dairy, you open a farm store featuring artisan cheeses and a slate of new products introduced this year.

That includes -- just in time for warmer weather -- goat milk soft-serve ice cream. Soft-serve ice cream cones are available at the dairy store only, but ice cream can be purchased by the pint for those who want to enjoy the treat at home.

Owners Terry and Laurie Carlson have also started bottling pasteurized goat milk, which is now for sale at the farm. Drinkable yogurts round out the products introduced this season.

The farm store is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Monday. Visitors can sample and purchase milk, yogurts, cheeses, skyr (a Norwegian/Icelandic yogurt) and ice cream. Goat meat and broiler chickens are also available at the store.

Fairview Farm Goat Dairy is located at 2340 SW Fairview Road, Dallas.
