Are you ready for some basketball?
If you've got game -- or think you do -- grab some friends and form a team for the annual Dallas Summerfest 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.
This year's tournament, coordinated by the Dallas Basketball Association, takes place Saturday in the east parking lot of The Academy Building, 182 SW Academy St., in Dallas.
Games are scheduled to begin bright and early at 8:30 a.m., with a break taken for the Summerfest Parade.
Cost is $40 per team, and there is a maximum of four players per team. Proceeds from the event benefit the Dallas Basketball Association, which operates a youth basketball program in the community.
"We're looking for growth in the tournament," said Tod Brostrom, one of the event organizers. "We have more involvement from the high school coaching staff now, so we're expecting this event to grow.
"It's a fun tournament. We usually get a mix of ages participating and we try and get teams four games, depending on the total number of entries. Usually, it is between three and five."
Referees are provided. Teams play to 35 points (2-point and 3-point scoring) or a 25-minute time limit, similar to the rules used at the 2012 ONG Salem Hoopla Tournament. Medals are awarded to the various champions. Other rules will be posted at the site and during registration.
And speaking of registration, tournament sign-up sessions are scheduled Thursday and Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of The Academy Building. Late registration will be accepted Saturday from 8 to 8:45 a.m.
All ages, genders and abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate.
Brostrom said the tournament setting is unique in itself.
"We do have a beautiful setting for 3-on-3 at The Academy Building," he noted. "It's a fun place to watch a game. You can sit under the shade trees, watch the games and really enjoy yourself."
