Four Arrested In Meth Bust

DALLAS -- Polk Interagency Narcotics Team (POINT) arrested four people in Dallas on multiple charges following a month-long investigation into drug sales at a local trailer park.

Rose Ann Lumby

POINT team members served a search warrant at 1 a.m. Thursday at 573 E. Ellendale Ave., No. 13B. There, detectives seized methamphetamine, needles, drug packaging materials, scales, handwritten records of drugs sales, and arrested four people.

Investigators also seized more than a gram of methamphetamine through a series of controlled buys, a part of an investigation in which undercover officers purchase drugs from dealers.

Polk County Sgt. Michael Holsapple said though the operation wasn't extensive, it did move a large amount of methamphetamine.

Richard Powers

"It was a local operation," Holsapple said. But "the amounts they were getting were substantial. They would get the drugs from suppliers out of county and were selling it out of the trailer park here."

One of the four people arrested was charged with possessing or delivering a "substantial quantity" of methamphetamine, meaning 10 grams or more.

"A user unit (quantity typically sold to drug users) is a tenth of a gram," Holsapple said. "That (a substantial quantity) is a lot of user units."

Arrested were:

* Rose Ann Lumby, 42, of Dallas on charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and a Yamhill County warrant for dangerous drugs. Bail: $5,000.

* Richard Powers, 45, of Dallas on two counts of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, four counts of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, and a parole violation warrant on a sex abuse conviction from July 2004. Bail: $500,000.

Katie M. Longhorn

* Katie M. Longshore, 33, a transient on charges of unlawful delivery of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and criminal conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine.

* Kenneth M. Longshore, 32, a transient on charges of unlawful delivery of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and criminal conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. Bail: $500,000.

Three of the four suspects in the case remained in custody at Polk County Jail Tuesday.

Kenneth M. Longhorn

Katie Longshore was conditionally released on Friday.
