COLLEGE SPORTS: WOU track and field squad earns all-academic awards

MONMOUTH -- The Western Oregon University track and field squad saw 16 of its members earn the right to call themselves Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Stars for the 2012 season.

Ali Mosher and Zoe Skordahl, both three-time selections, led the way, joined by repeat honorees Ashley Potter, Meryl Butcher, Dan Sprinkle, Will Crook, Robert Alexander and Connor Kasler. Earning all-academic honors for the first time were Katie Pelchar, Emily Pieren, Amanda Schumaker, KayAnna Cecchi, Carraig Colahan, Kyle Lane, Lukas Fenley and Kody Rhodes.

To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.20 while being in at least their second year of competition at their university. They must also qualify for either the GNAC indoor or outdoor track and field championship meets.
