Maxwell Bennett, grandson of Pete and LaVerne Bennett, was recently invited to witness a speech and signing of a jobs bill after answering a questionnaire online.
He got to meet both the President Obama and Vice President Biden.
Maxwell, who is the son of Michael and Beth Bennett of Lewes, Del., lives in Falls Church, Va., and works for a law firm in Washington, D.C. Pete and LaVerne were surprised to see a press release in the newspaper that included a photo of Maxwell with the president and vice president.
Pat Lyday got home from the hospital last week, so her daughter, Vicki Woods, came from Las Vegas to stay with her and husband Junior until she's back on her feet.
Pat's doctor said she had a "silent heart attack," but is getting better all the time.
Her great grandson Anthony Serrano, a junior at Cal State, came from Las Vegas to Kings Valley to celebrate his 21st birthday with them. Bob and Connie Bennett and son Rex joined them for guitar-playing and singing at the party. Pat loved every minute.
Wes and Carla Burbank visited their granddaughter, Justina Cartwright, and her daughters, Jada and Isabel, in Sandy for Isabel's second birthday. They attended Mountain View Church while there, which is huge, having several services each Sunday. Quite a change from Pedee. Carla visits with Deanne Maddux often. Deanne now lives in Dallas and baby-sits grandchildren daily, which she loves.
Suzanne Burbank and Lorraine Odell celebrated my birthday with a dinner and card party at Dave and Suzanne's home.
The whole family came, including Brennan, Callie and Annabelle from Salem, friends Jim and Donna Wernz from Philomath, and Sam and Judy Guida. Well, Derek didn't make it as he's still in Australia, having the time of his life. Last week he and his friends took a sailboat ride to the Great Barrier Reef.
