Consignment shop

moves to new site

INDEPENDENCE -- Second Time Around will have a grand opening for its new location in Independence on Monday.

The store, which consigns new and used clothing, shoes, toys and other items, is relocating from the downtown area to 834 Monmouth St.

Duane Brown, who co-owns the shop with his wife, Jenny, said they had been successful since opening during the spring of 2011.

But with that growth has come a demand for more space, he said.

The new store will measure almost 5,000-square-feet, including its processing area. That's almost three times as large as the current store at 155 C St.

"We'll be able to have a wider range of products in the new location," Brown said. New offerings will include household furniture, kitchenware, decorations and sporting goods, he added.

Second Time Around will be closed Thursday and Friday for the move and will reopen at 10 a.m. on Monday at the new location. Regular operating hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
