DALLAS -- A single vehicle crash in the 2400 block of East Ellendale Avenue near Dallas cut power to a few homes and closed the road briefly Monday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the accident at about 5:35 p.m.
Dallas Fire Chief Bill Hahn said the driver of a small sport utility vehicle lost control, ran off the road, and hit a utility pole. The SUV then sideswiped a tree before coming to a stop in the frontyard of a nearby home.
Hahn said the utility pole, which was completely sheared off, carried electricity and cable lines, serving a number of homes in the area.
The road was closed and traffic was diverted around the crash site for 30 to 45 minutes until the accident was cleared.
The driver of the SUV refused to be taken to the hospital. The name of the driver and description of the vehicle was not available at press time.
