PREP ROUNDUP: Central soccer teams wrap up regular seasons, eye potential play-in

INDEPENDENCE -- With a 2-0 win over Taft Oct. 23 and a 1-1 tie with Stayton Thursday, the Central girls soccer team currently sits in third place in the Oregon West Conference, which should guarantee the Panthers (4-6-2, 2-4-2 OWC) a road contest in the Class 4A play-in round. DALLAS PICKS UP FIRST LEAGUE WIN, ENDS SEASON:

The Dallas girls soccer team came through with a big win at South Albany Oct. 24, defeating the Rebels 4-3. Shasta Wilson, Kiley Yost, Brooke Perry and Coby Champ all scored for the Dragons and Mary Kate McGuire added two assists. Dallas wrapped up its season with a 4-1 loss to Silverton Thursday. McGuire scored the lone goal for the Dragons.

Boys Soccer

DALLAS CONCLUDES SEASON:

The Dallas boys soccer team fell to South Albany 1-0 Oct. 23 and 5-0 to Silverton Thursday to conclude its season at 0-10-2, 0-6-1 in the Mid-Willamette Conference.

CENTRAL FALLS TO STAYTON:

The Panthers beat Taft 3-0 Oct. 23 and fell to Stayton 3-1 Thursday. No statistical information was provided. Central played Newport after press time Tuesday to conclude its regular season.

Volleyball

DALLAS BEATS SILVERTON:

The Dragons defeated Silverton 25-21, 22-25, 27-25, 25-21 Thursday to pick up their third league win of the season. Caitlyn McCarron led Dallas with 15 kills, Kiley Barcroft had 24 digs, Julie Postma had 24 assists and Deaven Vessell tallied five blocks. Dallas fell in a 25-19, 25-17, 25-18 contest to Lebanon Oct. 23 and in a 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 setback to Crescent Valley Saturday.

FALLS CITY FALLS IN SEASON FINALE:

The Mountaineers fell to to Veritas in their season finale, 25-18, 22-25, 25-9, 25-22. Destiny Wyatt tallied three kills and two blocks and Alexis Romine added two aces in the loss.

CENTRAL BEATS NEWPORT:

The Panthers defeated Newport 25-23, 25-18, 25-19 Oct. 23 to end their season at 5-9 overall.
