School supplies to be distributed in Falls city

FALLS CITY -- Free school supplies will be handed out to Falls City School District students of all grades on Aug. 15 in Falls City's Upper Park, 333 Seventh St.The donations will be provided through a partnership of the Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center and Falls City Mayor Amy Houghtaling. The goal is to provide supplies to 155 children.The Salvation Army will distribute backpacks filled with basic school supplies at the park from 4 to 7 p.m. The afternoon will include music, activities and food, with hot dogs, chips and drinks provided.Families who need help with school supplies need to present a photo ID and/or current utility bill showing their Falls City address.Other community organizations are welcome to attend and provide resource information to the families, but must RSVP by Friday to Melissa Baurer at 503-798-4876.School supply donations still are being accepted for the distribution until Aug. 14 at The Bread Board, 404 N. Main St., Falls City.
