ACADEMIC HONORS Dallas High grad earns fellowship WICHITA, Kan. -- Travis Pike, a 2002 graduate of Dallas High School, recently was awarded the MFA Fellowship in Fiction from Wichita State University for the 2013-14 academic year. Pike is a graduate teaching assistant, working on his master's degree in creative writing and teaching English at the Kansas university. GFU honors Independence student NEWBERG -- Samantha Baldwin of Independence earned a spot on the George Fox University dean's list for the recently completed spring semester. To qualify for the honor, GFU students must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or better. Baldwin is a junior majoring in nursing. Dallas resident makes UP dean's list PORTLAND -- Victoria Wellock of Dallas recently was named to the 2013 spring semester dean's list at the University of Portland. Students need at least a 3.50 grade-point average to be eligible for the dean's list. Wellock, a 2011 graduate of Dallas High School, is a junior majoring in biology.
