Dance team will compete at state

DALLAS -- Dallas High School's dance team is scheduled to participate in this week's Oregon School Activities Association dance and drill state championships at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

Dallas will compete in the Class 5A Intermediate Division Wednesday (today) along with Hermiston, Lebanon, North Eugene, Rex Putnam, Sherwood, South Albany and Wilsonville. Dallas' estimated performance time is just after 9 p.m.

Depending on the score the team receives, Dallas may qualify to compete in the finals on Thursday night.

Donkey basketball coming to FCHS

FALLS CITY -- The students of Falls City High School are hosting a night of family fun, entertainment, thrills, spills and lots of laughs as they hold a donkey basketball game fundraiser Wednesday (today) at 7 p.m. in the Falls City High School gym.

Advanced tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for students (grades 7-12) and $5 for children (grades K-6) and available at FCHS through Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Tickets at the gate cost $1 additional.

All proceeds earned will go to finance student activities.

KVCS to hold movie night fundraiser

KINGS VALLEY -- Kings Valley Charter School is continuing its series of "family movie night" fundraisers for the school's foreign language tour in 2014.

The next movie night, a double feature, is Saturday. "Wreck it Ralph" will be shown at 5:30 p.m., followed by "Life of Pi" at 7 p.m.

Admission is by a $2 suggested donation. Premium seating is $5. Baby-sitting is also available for $5 per child. A variety of food and drink concessions will be available for purchase.

Future family movie nights are scheduled April 20, May 18 and June 16.

Perrydale FFA plans music festival

PERRYDALE -- Tickets are now on sale for Perrydale FFA Chapter's second annual Country Music Festival, scheduled Saturday at Perrydale Farms.

The event, which runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m., will include an evening of country music featuring a performance by Joe Shinkle and 99 West, as well as an assortment of desserts.

Tickets are $8 per person or $25 per family, and space is limited.

Polk trio earn degrees from Oregon

EUGENE -- Three Polk County residents are among the 715 students who completed graduation requirements during winter term 2013 at the University of Oregon.

Scheduled to receive their degrees are:

Jennifer Lynn Gates of Monmouth, Master of Arts, linguistics; Kaytie Royce Pierce of Independence, Bachelor of Education, family and human services; and Matthew Steven Bissinger of West Salem, Bachelor of Arts, economics and political science.

Dallas woman receives scholarship

DALLAS -- Jamie Radcliffe of Dallas was recently presented the 2012 Dream Award at Everest College in Vancouver, Wash. The award acknowledges students for overcoming extraordinary challenges and demonstrating exceptional leadership. Radcliffe, who was enrolled in the college's paralegal/legal assistant program, received a $2,500 scholarship to pursue an advanced degree in her field of study.
