Salem murder suspects nabbed in Independence

INDEPENDENCE -- Two suspects wanted for a Salem murder were apprehended on Monmouth Avenue Friday by Independence police.Eddie Lopez, 23, and his brother, Lorenzo Lopez-Gordillo, 22, both of Gervais, were wanted for the murder of Charlie Rivera, 23, of Salem at the Londonaire Apartments, 944 Concord St. NE.The brothers are accused of shooting Rivera shortly before 3:45 a.m. Sept. 7 while he was sitting in his parked vehicle.Rivera was transported to Salem Hospital, where he died of his injuries later that day.The two suspects were spotted by police walking along Monmouth Avenue at about 1 p.m. Friday.The brothers were booked into the Marion County Jail Friday afternoon and charged with the murder.The two were arraigned Monday at the Marion County Jail Annex.
