DALLAS -- It's time for the leaves to start falling again and the city of Dallas is offering residents several tips on how to dispose of or reuse fall's colorful bounty.Dallas Public Works is advising people to use yard debris bins that can be picked up with regular garbage service.The city has also opened lots for residents to drop off leaves at the following locations: the gravel lot west of the ball fields at Lyle Elementary School; the parking lot at Dallas City Park at the end of Allgood Street; andthe far east end of Hankel Street in front of the barricade.Leaves can also be placed in the street, but only between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31. For estimated pickup dates in your area visit www.dallasor.gov.* Rake leaves into the street in small piles.* Avoid blocking the roadway.* Keep the piles away from the storm drains and at least 18 inches from the curb to allow water to drain.* Do not place trimmings, brush, grass or other debris in the street.Leaves are available to the public. Feel free to pick up leaves at any of the three drop-off sites listed above.
