Kindergarten screenings planned

DALLAS — Lyle and Oakdale Heights elementary schools in Dallas will hold kindergarten screenings sessions beginning this week.

Families should register their kindergarten-age children by the following screening dates: Thursday (Aug. 14), 1:30 to 6:30 p.m., Lyle Elementary, 185 SW Levens St.; Monday (Aug. 18), 1:30 to 6:30 p.m., Oakdale Heights, 1375 SW Maple St.

Kindergarten screenings give schools information needed to plan instruction and class groups.

Perrydale registration continuing

PERRYDALE — Student registration for the 2014-15 school year continues Wednesday (today) from noon to 7 p.m. at Perrydale Schools, 7445 Perrydale Road.

Registration forms that can be downloaded and printed and all registration fees can be found on the Perrydale School District website,, or paper forms will be available during registration.

F.C. school supply giveaway on tap

FALLS CITY — The Salvation Army and Falls City Christian Church will host a “Tools for Schools” event Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Falls City’s George Kitchen Upper Park.

Backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as haircuts, immunizations and a barbecue dinner, will be offered to students and families at the giveaway. A bouncy house, games and a bicycle drawing will also be available at the free event.

Bring a photo identification with current address or photo ID with current utility bill for backpack distribution.

KVCS hosting movie night Saturday

KINGS VALLEY — A movie night fundraiser is scheduled Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. at Kings Valley Charter School.

“The LEGO Movie,” suitable for families, will be shown in the KVCS gym. Concessions, including hot dogs, snow cones, candy, popcorn and soda, will be sold, with proceeds from the event benefitting the KVCS foreign language program 2016 tour.

KVCS is located at 38840 Kings Valley Highway, between Dallas and Philomath.

DHS Booster Club needs volunteers

DALLAS — The Dallas High School Booster Club is looking for volunteers to help staff the booster table at DHS’s registration sessions Aug. 19-21.

Volunteers are needed to work 2- to 3-hour shifts on Aug. 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The booster table will be providing information and promoting Dallas High athletics and selling Dragon Pride T-Shirts.
