Wolves tabbed for fourth in GNAC

MONMOUTH — The Western Oregon University women’s soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the annual Great Northwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll.

Defending champion Western Washington was tabbed to repeat after receiving six of the eight first-place votes and 62 total points. Seattle Pacific received the other two first-place votes and received 56 points to finish second, followed by Central Washington in third.

The Wolves, who finished 9-4-6 overall and 7-3-4 in GNAC play in 2013 to place fourth, received 40 total points in voting by the GNAC coaches.

Western Oregon opens its 2014 campaign at home against Humboldt State on Sept. 6 at 1 p.m.
