COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Kenyon goes 5-5 for Columbia

Emily Kenyon of Monmouth recently completed her sophomore season with the women’s softball team at Columbia University in New York City.    Kenyon, a right-handed pitcher, appeared in 14 of the Lions’ 44 games, finishing with a 5-5 record and team-best 3.19 ERA. Opponents batted just .195 against Kenyon, who recorded 46 strikeouts and allowed 45 walks in 57 innings pitched.    Columbia posted a 9-11 Ivy League record and 22-22 overall mark this season.    Kenyon is a 2012 graduate of Central High School.    —    Caitlyn McCarron of Dallas has wrapped up her freshman campaign with the women’s softball team at Bradley University, an NCAA Division I school in Peoria, Ill. Playing as a true freshman, McCarron appeared in 32 games with 11 starts. She batted .148 with one home run and had a .968 fielding percentage with just one error as an infielder. Bradley was 27-32 overall, 15-12 in Missouri Valley Conference play. McCarron is a 2013 graduate of Dallas High School.    —    McKenzie DeVault of Dallas recently completed her sophomore season with the Southwestern Oregon Community College track and field team in Coos Bay. DeVault, a 2012 graduate of Dallas High School, placed sixth in the discus at the NWAACC Track and Field Championships, held May 19-20 at Spokane Falls Community College, with a throw of 120 feet, 1 inch. She also finished 15th in the shot put with a mark of 32-11.    —    Jesse Boustead of Dallas recently completed his second season as an assistant coach at Linfield College. Boustead, who saw increased responsibilities with the JV program, helped the Wildcats win a Northwest Conference title and return to the NCAA Division III finals for a second consecutive season. Boustad graduated from Dallas High School in 2008.    —    Kaitlyn Mason of Independence finished 16th in the women’s long jump at the Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Championships, held May 17-18 at the Mooberry Track & Field Complex at Washington State University in Pullman. Mason, a junior at Oregon State University, posted a mark of 17 feet, 11½ inches. She is a 2011 graduate of Central High School.    —    Danielle Ackerman of Dallas completed her freshman season with the Corban University softball team in Salem.
