INDEPENDENCE — Independence City Manager David Clyne scored well overall in his annual evaluation by the city council.
The council did not provide a summary of his recent evaluation, but did release the individual evaluations. Clyne also released his self-evaluation.
The reviews, one from each councilor and the mayor, included evaluations in five different areas: communication skills, interpersonal skills and relationships, leadership, planning and management/staff.
He “met” or “exceeded” expectations in nearly every area. A few councilors commented that Clyne needs to work on communicating better with staff, the public and other governmental agencies.
The evaluation is to be completed each July, according to the city manager’s contract.
This year’s evaluation was not mentioned as a reason for Clyne’s recent 6.4 percent salary increase and 2.5 percent cost-of-living increase.
