GRESHAM — Dallas High sophomore-to-be Jolie-Rae Ford placed first in the 1,500-yard freestyle at the Oregon Swimming Long Course Championship, held Thursday through Sunday at Mt. Hood Community College Aquatic Center in Gresham.
Ford won the 14-year-old female division with a time of 19 minutes, 26.02 seconds.
Blue Dolphins Swim Team coach Mark Maxwell said he believed Ford’s state championship was the first in the club’s 51-year history.
Ford also placed in the five other events she competed in. She finished second in the 400 freestyle (4:48.64), third in the 100 freestyle (1:03.64), fourth in the 200 freestyle (2:18.04), fifth in the 800 freestyle (10:11.27) and seventh in the 50 freestyle (29.35).
