COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Frederick earns preseason honor

Dallas High graduate Hannah Frederick is one of 15 athletes named to the 2014-15 Preseason All-Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball team.

Frederick is a 5-foot-5-inch senior guard at Northwest Christian University in Eugene.

The 2011 graduate of DHS played in and started all 28 games for the Beacons as a junior. She averaged 11.9 points per game and led NCU with 111 assists and 54 steals. She had 126 free throws, second most in NCU history. She was named to the All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honorable mention team and NCU’s team MVP and Most Valuable Newcomer.

Omlid

Tanner Omlid of Monmouth has returned for his sophomore season with the Army Black Knights men’s basketball team. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward is coming off a solid freshman campaign in which he earned All-Rookie Team honors in the NCAA Division I Patriot League. Omlid set Army’s single-season steals record with 63, a mark that ranks first in Patriot League history for a freshman. He also averaged 6.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the Black Knights, who are picked to finish second in league this season. Omlid is a 2013 graduate of Central High School.

Jared Webb of Dallas is a member of the 2014-15 men’s basketball team at Corban University in Salem. Webb, a 5-foot-11 sophomore guard, saw limited action with the Warriors as a freshman, appearing in eight games. He is a 2010 graduate of Dallas High School.

Mo Tapasa of Independence is beginning her freshman season with the women’s basketball program at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. The 2014 graduate of Central High School is a 5-foot-7 guard for coach Holli Howard-Carpenter’s Wolves.
