WOU football receives GNAC honors

MONMOUTH — Western Oregon’s football team saw 10 players named to the all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference team.

Senior receiver Tyrell Williams, freshman receiver Paul Revis and senior defensive lineman Kraig Akins earned first team all-GNAC honors. Senior quarterback Ryan Bergman, junior defensive back Roger Garrett, junior linebacker Shane Kuenzi and sophomore defensive lineman George Swartlender were named to the second team all-GNAC squad. Revis also received second-team honors as a kick returner. Junior running back Joe Harris, sophomore defensive lineman Jeremy Moore and redshirt freshman linebacker Tyler Johnson received honorable mention.

Revis was named co-Newcomer of the Year with South Dakota Mines quarterback Trent McKinney.

Azusa Pacific senior running back Terrell Watson was named the Offensive Player of the Year, while Simon Fraser redshirt sophomore linebacker Jordan Herdman was chosen Defensive Player of the Year.

Azusa Pacific’s Victor Santa Cruz and Humboldt State’s Rob Smith were named co-Coaches of the Year.

Western Oregon finished the 2014 season 6-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Wolves finished in a three way tie for second with Humboldt State and Central Washington. Azusa Pacific won the conference crown, going 6-0 in league play and 10-1 overall.
