DALLAS — The Dallas Urban Renewal District has increased the dollar amount for its Main Street façade grant program.
Originally set at $4,000 per building, the Dallas Urban Renewal District Board of Directors on Oct. 20 approved an increase to $10,000 per building.
Buildings in the 500 to 900 blocks are eligible for the program.
Jason Locke, Dallas community development director, said the district has had only two takers at the $4,000 limit and hopes the increase will entice building and business owners to take advantage of the program.
Depending on the type of work, the grant will cover 75 percent — up to $10,000 — on exterior painting, projecting signs and façade repair. The program covers 50 percent on repair or replacement of doors, windows, awnings, decorative detail and other building features and exterior lighting.
