Volunteers sought to help pull ivy

INDEPENDENCE — The Luckiamute Watershed Council seeks volunteers to join it for an “ivy pull” Saturday that is part of the statewide “Let’s Pull Together” invasive plant eradication effort.

The local event takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Riverview Park and Amphitheater boat ramp in Independence. It will focus on ivy removal along the banks of Ash Creek.

The Luckiamute Watershed Council will provide tools, water, coffee and snacks, as well as a tutorial on how to identify and remove invasive English ivy from tree trunks and the surface of the ground.

A free post-pull celebration will take place Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Willamette Park in Corvallis.
