Panthers see five players score in blowout win

COTTAGE GROVE — Central scored four goals in the first half as the Panthers’ boys soccer squad defeated Cottage Grove 5-0 on Thursday.

“All in all, it was a good start to the season,” Central coach Mike Lynch said.

Greg Herrera, Herber De La Torre and Marcos Gonzalez were among the five different players to score during the match.

“Both starting players and subs scored for us,” Lynch said. “I was very pleased by the effort given by all.”

Central played McNary Tuesday after press time and travels to face Aloha on Thursday.

W. MENNONITE/PERRYDALE ROLLS: Western Mennonite/Perrydale’s girls soccer team earned a 4-3 win over Creswell on Friday and 6-3 victory over Blanchet Catholic on Monday. Sydney Van Steenberge scored two goals in each game while Cheyenne Locke scored three goals over the two matches. The squad plays at Amity on Thursday before hosting Dayton on Monday.
