COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Wruck returns for senior year at Tulane

Anna Wruck of Monmouth has returned for her senior season with the Tulane University women’s volleyball team. Wruck, a 2011 graduate of Santiam Christian High School in Adair Village, is a 6-foot-2 middle blocker for the NCAA Division I Green Wave of New Orleans. Wruck was named to the 13th annual Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Classic All-Tournament Team for her play during Tulane’s three tournament matches Sept. 11-13. She currently ranks among team leaders in kills and attack percentage this season and entered the week having played in every set for the Green Wave.

Wendy Deptula of Monmouth is back for her junior season with the women’s cross-country team at Mary Baldwin College, an NCAA Division III school in Staunton, Va. She is ranked among the top seven runners at Mary Baldwin this season and was part of the 2013-14 USA South Academic All-Conference Team. Deptula is a 2012 graduate of Central High School.

Pete Finnegan of Monmouth is a sophomore on the Western Oregon University football team. Finnegan, a 2012 graduate of Central High School, is a 6-foot, 260-pound offensive lineman. Also on the WOU roster is Colby Jackson of Independence, a 2014 Central High grad. The 6-1, 184-pound freshman tight end is redshirting this season.

Deaven Vessell of Dallas has returned for her sophomore year with the women’s volleyball team at Chemeketa Community College in Salem. She is a 5-foot-9 outside hitter for the Storm. Vessell is a 2013 graduate of Dallas High School.

Zane West of Independence is continuing his running career this fall as a member of the men’s cross-country team at Salem’s Corban University. West is a freshman for the Warriors. He is a 2014 graduate of Central High School.

Erin Fettig of Monmouth is a sophomore on the women’s soccer team at George Fox University in Newberg. She is a 5-foot-1 defender for the Bruins. Fettig is a 2013 graduate of Santiam Christian High School in Adair Village.
