Registration due for camp on Friday

DALLAS — Registration is due Friday for LaCreole Middle School’s sixth-grade orientation camp, to be held Aug. 25 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The camp will help incoming sixth-graders get to know their new school building, practice opening lockers and ask questions of teachers and other students.

Those attending are asked to wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. Lunch will be provided through the district’s summer lunch program.

Tuition for the camp is $20, though partial scholarships are available. To sign your sixth-grader up, fill out a registration form and return it to LaCreole, 701 SE LaCreole Drive, Dallas by Friday.

DHS, LaCreole to hold registration

DALLAS — Dallas High School and LaCreole Middle School are open for student registration starting next week.

DHS, 1250 SE Holman Ave., Dallas, will begin registering students entering their senior year this fall on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Tuesday, incoming juniors may register from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is slated for sophomores. The final day of registration, Aug. 20, is reserved for freshmen from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For those unable to make those times, registration is open 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 20. Families with more than one student attending DHS may register all on the day designated for the oldest student. Students who are new to the district may register on any day.

LaCreole Middle School, 701 SE LaCreole Drive, Dallas, will register returning in-district students on Tuesday and Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m.

Students new to the district can register on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Free supplies to students Thursday

FALLS CITY — The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Social Services, in partnership with the Falls City Christian Church, will host its annual Tools for Schools backpack and supply distribution.

About 175 backpacks filled with all the necessary school supplies will be given to kids in the Falls City area from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at George Kitchen Upper Park.

This also is a time for families to register for school.

Registration for Talmadge to begin

INDEPENDENCE — Registration for Talmadge Middle School runs Tuesday through Aug. 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 7 p.m. each day.

Sixth-grade registration is Tuesday. Seventh-graders register on Aug. 19. Eighth graders may register on Aug. 20.

LCFC supply giveaway on Tuesday

INDEPENDENCE — Life Center Foursquare Church will host a school supply giveaway at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Henry Hill Park in Independence.

Supplies will be available to the first 250 Central School District students in grades K-12. Children and youth must be present to be eligible for the supplies.

County to hold immunization clinics

DALLAS — Polk County Public Health is holding four immunization clinics to prepare children for back to school.

Appointments must be made in advance for the clinics.

School immunizations will be available on Aug. 19, Aug. 26 and Sept. 9 from 8 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. at the agency’s Dallas clinic, 182 SW Academy St. Suite 302. On Sept. 9 a clinic also will be held in Independence from 1 to 4 p.m. at Oregon Child Development Coalition, 535 G St.
