BELMONT, Calif. — Western Oregon’s men’s basketball team remained perfect, winning two games at the Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Wolves defeated Notre Dame de Namur 81-51 on Friday and Holy Names 84-75 on Saturday.
Andy Avgi scored a game-high 24 points against Notre Dame.
Avgi scored 29 points against Holy Names. He also had five rebounds and three steals. Julian Nichols added 16 points, six rebounds and six assists. The Wolves (6-0 overall) opened Great Northwest Athletic Conference play at Concordia on Tuesday after press time. Western Oregon hosts Montana State Billings Saturday at 7 p.m.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS TWO: Western Oregon’s women’s basketball team lost a pair of games at the Mines Thanksgiving Tournament in Golden, Colo., on Friday and Saturday. The Wolves lost to Regis 74-53 on Friday and Colorado School of Mines 62-47 on Saturday. Launia Davis scored a team-high 10 points against Regis, while Jordan Mottershaw scored eight points against Colorado. The Wolves (1-5 overall) open league play at Seattle Pacific on Thursday and Saint Martin’s on Saturday.
