Dallas launches weed abatement program

DALLAS -- The city of Dallas has started its annual program of identifying the various nuisances caused by weeds, grass, and debris and working with residents to eliminate those hazards.

Community livability and safety can be affected by tall grass, weeds, and uncontrolled growth of other vegetation.

The city of Dallas would like to remind residents that city code prohibits the following: Any vegetation that is a fire hazard; weeds or grass that are more than 10 inches high; weeds or grass going to seed; and the accumulation of debris or other refuse that are not removed within a reasonable time.

It is the responsibility of each property owner to cut down or destroy obnoxious vegetation.

The city code is enforced throughout the growing season from spring through early fall.
