Monmouth to hold community sale

The city of Monmouth will hold the fifth annual Labor Day Weekend Community Yard Sale Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Main Street Park. The event is sponsored by the Monmouth Business Association.

The sale will feature food and a variety of items.

Fundraiser sale concludes today

The Salem West Valley Hospital, 525 SE Washington St., Dallas, concludes its $6 sale Wednesday (today).

The sale will be held in the main conference room immediately inside the front door from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Products for women, men and children will be available including fashion, accessories, jewelry, gadgets and more.

Proceeds from the sale go to the Volunteer Services scholarship fund, which provides money to Polk County high school students who wish to pursue education related to the health care fields each fall.

M-I Chamber holds info session

The Monmouth-Independence Chamber of Commerce will hold Chamber 101: Membership Value Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Henry Hill Education Resource Center Computer Lab, 750 S. Fifth St., Independence. The free, one-hour session will provide veteran, new and prospective members an overview of the benefits of chamber membership. There is no cost to attend. Blue Haven open house set Monday

Blue Haven Residential Care Facility, 280 SE Uglow, Dallas, will hold an open house Monday at noon. The open house will show the updates to the facility and a new back deck that overlooks Gala Park.

A barbecue will be served.

Dallas library uke jam Sept. 7

Dallas Public Library, 950 Main St., Dallas, will hold its monthly Ukulele Fans of Dallas meeting Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. New players are invited to arrive at 5 p.m. for one-on-one instruction. The informal gathering is open to all experience levels.

You don’t need to own an ukulele to attend.

Health class begins Sept. 7

First Place 4 Health Class begins Sept. 7 from 8:45 to 11 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 229 E. Ellendale Ave., Dallas and runs through Nov. 16.

The weekly class for women features a weight loss program centered on Jesus Christ, healthy choices, community and lifestyle changes.

There is no cost to attend.
