WOU ROUNDUP: Men’s basketball downs Alaska

MONMOUTH — Western Oregon University’s men’s basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Alaska Anchorage 82-50 on Sunday. The Wolves saw 10 players score five or more points.

Vince Boumann scored a team-high 15 points. Ali Faruq-Bey added 12 points and four rebounds. Tanner Omlid recorded 10 points, five rebounds, three blocks and three assists.

Western Oregon (10-1 overall, 2-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) played Alaska Fairbanks Tuesday after press time. The Wolves are off until Jan. 2, when WOU plays at Concordia at 7 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO SOUTHERN OREGON: Western Oregon University’s women’s basketball team lost to Southern Oregon 77-67 on Dec. 12.

The Wolves led 37-30 at the half before Southern Oregon outscored WOU 27-13 in the third quarter to take the lead for good.

Savannah Heugly recorded 15 points, five rebounds and three assists to lead WOU.

Kennedy Corrigan added 14 points, and Sydney Azorr had 12 points and four assists.

Western Oregon (5-3 overall) played Central Washington Tuesday after press time. The Wolves are off until Dec. 30 at Northwest Nazarene.
