Library to help declutter your life

Monmouth Public Library, 168 Ecols St., Monmouth, will hold a quarterly series titled “Declutter Your Life.”

The series begins Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. and will cover, “What do I keep?”

The other three installments will take place May 18, Aug. 17 and Nov. 16.

Circle of Support meets Thursday

Jefferson Lodge Memory Care, 664 SE Jefferson St., Dallas, will host a Circle of Support meeting Thursday at 3 p.m.

The Circle of Support meets every third Thursday to offer family members and caregivers of loved ones with memory loss the support, guidance, information and companionship they need to provide the best care possible.

Thursday’s meeting will introduce the program to new attendees and discuss various therapies used successfully at Jefferson Lodge and share information on how to use them at home.

Free respite care will be available during the one-hour meetings. Please RSVP in advance if planning to use the complimentary service.

There is no cost to attend.

Yoga Workshop set for Saturday

Dallas Yoga and Balance Studio, 115 SE Court St., Dallas, will hold a restorative yoga workshop Saturday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Cost is $25. All levels and body types are welcome.

The workshop will focus on slow, relaxation techniques and gentle yoga. There will be use of props and blankets.

Museum to host Tom Branigar

The Polk County History Museum, located at the south end of the parking area of the Polk County Fairgrounds,, invites the public to a program Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Tom Branigar, museum archivist, will discuss research results from his time at the Eisenhower library and how the information he found changed what we know of the past history about President Eisenhower and his father. After the presentation, enjoy free admission into the museum.

Schulz presents ‘Ahoy There’

Independence Public Library, 175 Monmouth St., Independence, will host children’s author Heidi Schulz Feb. 22 at 4:30 p.m. Schulz will present her program, “Ahoy there, Meet Heidi Schulz,” which is aimed at school-aged children.

The presentation will include information about how she writes and revises her work, and the behind-the-scenes work that goes into making a book.

Friends of the Independence Public Library is sponsoring the event. Light refreshments will be served.

PCHE hosts Islam lecture Sunday

The Polk Community for Human Equality will host a lecture and discussion about understanding Islam Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The discussion will take place in the Peter Courtney Health and Wellness Center, room 105 on the Western Oregon University campus.

The program is intended to reduce confusion and misinformation about Islam. Matt Davies, adjunct professor of world religions at Chemeketa Community College and an expert on Islam, will present.
