Falls City boys basketball loses in first round of playoffs

LOWELL — Wednesday, the Falls City Mountaineers entered the state playoffs for the first time since 1992 and lost by one point against Lowell, 49-48.

At the end of the fourth quarter, the Mountaineers were up by one with five seconds to go. The Devils got the ball, making a sideways shot with two seconds left.

Coach Micke Kidd says regardless of the loss, he is proud of his team. They’re a good group of kids; They’re getting better and working hard, he said.

J.R. Lafayette and Jason Lafayette both scored 15 points; Jacob Labrado brought in nine points and nine rebounds; and Austin Burgess had 11 rebounds and four points.
