Wrestling wins Northwest Duals

ALBANY — Dallas’ wrestling team placed first at the Northwest Duals on Thursday and Friday.

The Dragons went 9-0, defeating Squalicum 70-10, Centennial 60-14, Sunset 58-18, Hood River Valley 58-12, and Tillamook 71-4 in pool play on Thursday and advance to the championship bracket.

Dallas defeated Bend 49-21, Century 52-17, Mountain View 46-17 and Newberg 37-22 to win the championship on Friday.

Cael Morrison (106 pounds) went 7-0 during two days.

Treve Earhart went 4-0 while wrestling at both 182 and 195 pounds.

Earhart’s victories included a win over Baseem Saad, of Centennial, the eighth-ranked wrestler in 6A at 182, and Haakon Kjellesvik, of Bend, the seventh-ranked wrestler in 5A at 182.

Dallas will compete at Silverton Wednesday (today) at 4 p.m. before hosting the Brunner Invite Saturday at 9 a.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL FALLS TO SPRAGUE: Dallas’ girls basketball team lost to Sprague 56-53 on Friday.

The Dragons (6-2 overall) played Pendleton Tuesday after press time.

Dallas opens Mid-Willamette Conference play by hosting Corvallis Tuesday at 7 p.m.
