Falls City boys roll to easy victory

FALLS CITY — The Mountaineers defeated Jewell 65-17 on Thursday, getting their 10th win of the season and sixth in Casco League play.

Jason Lafayette scored 18 in the victory. J.R. Lafayette added 11 and Chris Doyle and Gage Scheet scored seven each.

Falls City (10-8, 6-3 Casco) has a busy week coming up starting with a game against Crosshill Christian Tuesday after press time. On Thursday the team faces Willamette Valley Christian, followed by games on Monday against Livingstone Adventist and Tuesday versus Perrydale.

FC GIRLS LOSE CLOSE CONTEST: The girls basketball team lost to Jewell 34-31 Thursday.

“The girls played well and the game went down to the closing seconds,” said coach Micke Kidd. “We struggled from the free-throw line going 6 for 23.”

Amara Houghaling scored 10 points, Sarah Mack and Emma Burgess each had six in the defeat.

Falls City (6-11, 3-6 Casco) traveled to Crosshill Christian for a game Tuesday after press time. Thursday the team hosts Willamette Valley Christian and plays Livingstone Adventist at home on Monday. The week wraps up with a contest against Perrydale on Tuesday.
