WOU mens BB climbs in poll

MONMOUTH — Unbeaten over the last seven weeks, the Western Oregon University men’s basketball team continued its climb up the NCAA DII Coaches’ Poll with a No. 6 national ranking, the NABC announced on Jan. 23.

Western Oregon has compiled an overall record and a 9-1 mark in GNAC play. The team’s lone loss occurred more than a month ago with a setback at Western Washington on Dec. 2. WWU reentered the top 25 this week for the first time since earning a No. 22 slot in the NCAA DII Preseason Poll.

The Wolves have won 13 straight games.

WOU baseball No. 1 in coaches poll

PORTLAND — After capturing the regular season title and GNAC championship last year, Western Oregon is picked to win the conference in the 2018 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Baseball Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Wolves, under acting head coach Mike McInerney, received two first-place votes to finish with 30 points in the poll. Western Oregon clinched the regular season by 4.5 games and outscored opponents 26-10 in the GNAC Championships last season.

Montana State Billings, which won 23 games under first-year head coach Aaron Sutton took second.
