Apartment fire displaces families

DALLAS — Seven people were displaced after a fire at the Metro Garden Apartments at 528 SW Levens St., in Dallas.

The call came in at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, according to Dallas Fire & EMS.

Firefighters located the fire in an apartment on the second floor of the complex and quickly extinguished it.

The apartment sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. While putting out the blaze, firefighters were able to rescue the resident’s cat.

The apartment directly above the fire also sustained smoke damage.

Seven people were displaced as a result of this fire and are working with the American Red Cross for assistance with as temporary housing, food, clothing, comfort kits.

Dallas Police is investigating the cause.
