After a year and half absence, the Polk County Folk Life Festival is back, but at a new location.

The fundraiser movie night costs $15 and includes free popcorn and door prizes at a showing of “Wonder,” starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Trembley.
The Dallas Public Library will host Oregon author William Sullivan at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The public is invited to this free performance.
The Ash Creek Arts Center’s Second Saturday family art event will feature Fimo Clay Owl Decorations
The art display will continue through March 31. A reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday.

The city of Independence, in association with the Independence Public Library and the Ash Creek Arts Center, will hold a Day of the Dead event Nov. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the library, 175 Monmouth St., Independence.
