Pete and LaVerne Bennett, son Rick Bennett and daughter Lisa Bennett flew to Washington, D.C., to attend the wedding of Maxwell Bennett and Laura Schaefer in Falls Church, Va. Maxwell is the son of their son, Michael and Beth Bennett of Lewes, Del.
The wedding was Jan. 12 at St. James Catholic Church and the reception was held in the Tower Club in Tysons Corner.
While there, they visited Arlington National Cemetery and witnessed the changing of the guard. Other highlights were seeing the Iwo Jima Memorial, Vietnam Wall, Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and many other sights in Washington, D.C.
Lucy Osgood of Dallas, who is Beth's sister, also attended the wedding. This was the first time their whole family had been together in several years.

No one called to claim the lost puppy mentioned last week, so Kathy Ketchum and Terry Droessler on Fishback Road adopted her, naming her Percy. She loves her new home and has already gained three pounds.

During the month of December, a beaver took up residence in our pond and worked hard to build a dam across the outlet, sending a stream of water down our driveway.
Each morning my husband, Paul, would break up the dam and each night the beaver built it back, causing quite a bit of damage. Finally, neighbor Jerry Mentzer came over last week and tried to trap it. While he was unable to catch the beaver, it did snap the trap and consequently moved on to a friendlier neighborhood, much to our relief.
I did forget to mention that we got 86.55 inches of rain last year, beating the average yearly rainfall by 25 or so inches.

New baby news: Daniel and Heidi Russell announced that they are expecting a baby in July, and Brennan and Callie Burbank announced that they now know their expected baby will be a boy. Brennan and Callie are excited, although I suspect they didn't check with 1-year-old daughter Annabelle about that.
