Cindy Clark went to Woodland, Calif., last week to visit her mother, Norma Bourn. Cindy had heard that her 86-year-old mother wasn't doing very well, but was better than expected, so they had a good visit.
Kurt McBeth is now at the Dallas Care Center. He had been the county animal control officer for years until his health failed.
Suzanne Burbank was chairwoman of this year's Dallas FFA Alumni Club "Hearts and Wines" dinner at Eola Hills Winery on Friday. This successful event has earned more than $15,000 for scholarships over the last seven years. Paul and I attended with daughter Lorraine Odell and her husband, Doug, from Salem, and several friends.
Judy Guida took a short trip to Houston to visit her son and daughter-in-law, John and Gina Guida, and her grandchildren. Samuel and Haley are talking now and she helped Neko with his kindergarten homework. She saw John and Gina's new house that they will move into in May, and visited son Tony and saw where he was working at an advertising company in Houston.
Since she was flying standby it was always an adventure to see if she could catch a flight. It took two tries to get to Houston from Portland and three tries from Houston to Portland, and then went via Los Angeles on the way home.
Oregon never looks prettier than after you have been to Houston, she says.
Judy and Jennifer Vandenberg ran in a 3K run Saturday in Albany sponsored by Calapooia Middle School's eighth-grade class to earn money for its trip to Washington, D.C., at the end of the school year.
Don't forget to come to Kendall Cates' retirement potluck at the Pedee Women's Club Wednesday (today) at 7 p.m. He is retiring from the fire department, where he has been captain for several years.
